AUTUMN MARIE CHERRY

Living life "on purpose"

The Big Book of Boredom Busters for Kids publisher, Autumn Marie Cherry, has a great appreciation for kids — especially her two full-of-life, pre-teens whom she waited for many years. Her mission is inspire others to live life “on purpose” — after all, kids seem to grow up so fast!

After living on the East Coast nearly 25 years, then moving back to her hometown of Evansville, Indiana five years ago, she found it challenging to find "things to do" with her two young children in Evansville. It wasn't that there weren't things to do; there was simply no one-stop shop place in existence to coordinate these activities and organizations. Each year, as she would learn of additional things to do and her borders would stretch, her personal "list" of kids trips would continue grow — and that's how the Boredom Busters directory (named by Cherry's nine-year-old son) was birthed.

Founder and director of Cornerstone Publishing, Cherry began her career as feature writer for a national award-winning magazine-style newspaper, before moving to the Fortune 500 world of corporate communications at Kimball International in Jasper, Indiana. She then served more than seven years at The Christian Broadcasting Network Inc. in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she helped create publications — booklets, brochures, newsletters, catalogs, marketing pieces, and audio and video covers — which were distributed by the millions throughout the world.

It was in Virginia Beach that Cornerstone Publishing was birthed to inspire others to live life “on purpose” with a hunger for The Truth. Since 1992, Cornerstone has been involved in the publication of nearly a half million books, written by several hundred authors. Proceeds from many of the Cornerstone book titles have been donated to various causes, ranging from homeless shelters, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, and the Lupus Foundation. Proceeds have also been used to help feed and clothe needy children in Ethiopia and to start a Bible School overseas.

Cherry has been instrumental in helping numerous ministries and organizations publish magazines, newspapers, books, booklets and other promotional materials for conferences, retreats and seminars. In addition, she has spearheaded several children’s book collection campaigns in different states, geared at getting books into the hands of children below the national poverty level.

She received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism, with emphasis on graphic design, from Indiana University, where she received a journalism scholarship and was on the "Honors List" and member of Quill and Scroll. She is listed in Who's Who Worldwide and Who's Who Among American Writers, Editors, and Poets. Cherry received the "President's Award For Excellence" from Christian Broadcasting Network founder Pat Robertson. She was also named "Coach of the Year" for junior high school volleyball.

Cherry's first book, Desktop Publishing in Three Easy Steps, was first published in 1995. Her most popular book, Is There A Book In You?, was originally released in 2007 and is currently in its eighth printing.
